The Dallas Angel Network is a non profit organization (501(c)(3)) that connects entrepreneurs with angel investors. The DAN is run by unpaid volunteers and financial professionals interested in deploying their own capital and in meeting likeminded individuals who wish to create wealth through innovative ideas and ingenuity. The DAN does not charge entrepreneurs to submit their business plan or at any other stage. This maximizes participation by entrepreneurs and ensures strong deal flow.

Any Industry, Any Stage:

The angels in The Dallas Angel Network are from a variety of backgrounds and have expertise across a multitude of industries. Given this breadth of experience, The DAN is industry agnostic and considers ventures in any sector. In addition, The DAN considers businesses at any stage from startups to existing businesses with current cash flow. Given that certain angels may not have an appetite for investment in specific industries and funding stages, The DAN will link the right entrepreneurial opportunities with the appropriate angels in the group.

Process:

Once an entrepreneur submits a business plan, it is reviewed according to stringent criteria. Upon a successful initial review, The DAN has multiple sessions with the entrepreneur and coaches that person to ensure the business plan is “presentation-ready”, valuation expectations are reasonable, and the entrepreneur understands what the term sheet will potentially address. After The DAN has spent considerable time with the entrepreneur, a unanimous vote from the DAN Advisor Team is required to allow the entrepreneur to present to angels. Only those entrepreneurs that are well prepared and have a high likelihood of achieving funding will be selected to present. Before the presentation, The DAN assigns one of its Advisors to lead the deal through the closing of the transaction. The Advisor’s role is to support a thorough due diligence process and make sure the deal progresses to a timely close. The leadership role taken by the Advisor assures deal momentum is not lost due to a lack of organization or collaboration.

Besides being accredited investors and capital providers, the angels of The Dallas Angel Network are strategic partners. An Angel in The DAN wishes to do more than earn a return on their investment; they have a sincere desire to work with entrepreneurs and draw on their personal experiences to provide guidance and advice. They are collaborators whose philanthropic mindset drives them to help others achieve their goals. In addition, angels are not silent investors; they take an active role in the continued development and growth of the companies in which they invest.
